Idaho

Day 30

About 180 miles South to get to Utah today. The only stop we planned to make was Potacello in Idaho. We spent an hour and a bit in the Museum of Clean. If you like vacuum cleaners then this is the place for you. A mustard point shaped like a toilet, perhaps?

Pleasingly it had another Muffler Man.

This unknown tool. I did a reverse image search and found out that it’s a Victorian brass horse hair singer.

Still in Potacello a coffee (in Mocha Madness), then an early lunch at Elmer’s. An avocado eggs Benedict.

Idaho LOVES a potato. Outside the restaurant they had some religious magazines, and in Idaho the potato gets top billing over God.

We got across the border into Utah, and checked into the hotel in Logan.

Local News. “Bingham News Chronicle”

  • Blackfoot high school class of 1963 reunion .

  • Idaho annual spuds day returns Saturday.

  • Blackfoot area police, officials host Fentanyl awareness townhall.

“Idaho state journal”

  • Shelter in place order issued after hazardous materials leak at ISU Eames Complex.

Day 29

Today we have to drive south through Montana to get back into Idaho so tomorrow we can nip across the corner of Utah. Countless abandoned shacks, and everyone likes an abandoned shack.

On the outskirts of Ennis we had a bit of breakfast, then onto the main street of Ennis.

The Bozeman trail.

Arrived in St. Anthony, Idaho for the night. The local bar was closed so we bought baked beans to eat at the hotel. We are living the dream.

Also, fire danger is high so we won’t set any fires.

Local News. “The Madisonian” Montana’s oldest newspaper. Established 1873.

  • Fishing restrictions listed on Madison and Sun rivers listed.

  • Temporary burn ban lifted.

  • Yellow mule trail rescue.

  • Grizzly bear euthanised near West Yellowstone following multiple conflicts with people.

Day 28

Topped up the car, and watched the roosters wandering about the petrol station.

We visited the centre of the universe, which happens to be a manhole cover in the middle of the road in Wallace, Idaho.

As we pulled into the town we slowed down as some sheriffs were escorting a prisoner dressed in standard prison orange, and chained by both hands and feet.

We visited the mining museum (because no town we drive through doesn’t have a mining museum.) It was a pretty town to walk through.

We stopped off at the Idaho / Montana to take some photos of the trees.

Into state thirteen, Montana, which contains another surfeit of trees.

Day 26

A short day. We woke up Moscow. We walked round the Appaloosa museum. Something to do with horses.

Through Potlach with its Sasquatch.

A burger for lunch (of course).

A nice chat with the police because “someone” may, or may not, have indicated when joining a highway.

Checked into a very nice place in Kellog, Idaho for a day without driving.
